Western North Is Disappointed In Akufo-Addo’s Ministerial Reshuffle- Sampson Ahi
The Member of Parliament for Bodi, Sampson Ahi has expressed disappointed in President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo for leaving out the Western North region in his latest ministerial Reshuffle.
A message from the President to Parliament through speaker Alban Sumana Kingsford Bagbin left out Dr Kwaku Afriyie who is the current Minister for Environment, Science, Technology and Innovation (MESTI) in the list of new ministers-designate.
Responding to the development in press conference at parliament House, the Bodi lawmaker described the development as a sad day for the people of the Western North region.
According to him, the Chiefs and people of the region are disappointed in the president for not naming a replacement for Dr Afriyie who is the only cabinet minister and minister of state in the current NPP government.
Mr Ahi indicated that, the people of the region have been hoping that a replacement of the sacked minister would be made from the region but that was not to be.
The Bodi MP however believe the decision to leave out the Western North region was an oversight and expressed optimism that the president will correct the anormally.
Failure to appoint any minister of state from the region he said will be an afront to the dictates of the 1992 constitution so far as regional balance is concerned in the selection of ministers of state.
Speaking on the reshuffle itself, the NDC MP said it is an attempt to compensate some people saying it was late in the day as it will not have any meaningful impact on the deteriorating economic fortunes of the country.
Member for Juaboso and Ranking member on the Health committee, Kwabena Minta Akandoh on his part said the ministerial reshuffle is an insult to the people of Ghana.
He explained that the president waited for serious damage to be done the economy before taking the very late decision.
