U$ 48 Million For Operational Expenses By Local Organizing Committee Of African Games
The local organizing committee of the 2023 African games intends on spending the sum of U$48 million as ‘operational expenses for the tournament.
According to the handbook release by the LOC, financing of a number of 332 vehicles in total have been requested by the committee.
Per the document provided, the local organizing committee tends to acquire a fleet of 55 buses, 29 land cruisers, 106 saloon cars, 26 minibuses, 78 Wagons, 30 Ayolo buses, 5 trucks and 3 Toyota Land Cruiser Prado for the competition scheduled for 8th to march 24, 2024.
On Monday 26 February, 2024, The member of parliament for North Tongu, Samuel Okudzeto Ablakawa, allegedly revealed the price for the expenditure to a sum of U$48 million.
The member of parliament accused Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, the ministry of sports and the local organizing committee of being accomplice to this elephantine expenditure.
It must be noted that a huge amount of U$195 million (GHS 2.4 Billion) has already been allocated for the tournament. The vehicle expenditure is a completely different amount to be given to the LOC.
Meanwhile, following this allegations, the LOC responded to the claims by Honorable Samuel Okudzeto Ablakawa, describing it as “erroneous and disingenuous”
