Try Menzgold, Mahama, Suale, J.B Danquah Cases Daily- NDC Tells AG
The National Democratic Congress (NDC) has criticized Attorney General and Minister for Justice Godfred Yeboah Dame accusing him of his selective bias in the prosecution of certain high-profile cases in the country as against those involving its members.
The NDC, which believes its members are being persecuted by the Akufo-Addo-led government called on the Attorney General to apply the same level of energy in the prosecution of cases such as the one involving former CEO of Menzgold, NAM1, and the cases of the murder of JB Danquah, Major Mahama and Ahmed Suale.
In a statement issued by the party’s Legal Directorate, the NDC called for the speedy trial of these cases emphasizing the need for justice to be pursued and done for all individuals and in all cases, urging the Attorney General to consider daily trials in these cases as well.
The NDC’s Legal Directorate also condemned the ongoing criminal prosecution of James Gyakye Quayson, the party’s Assin North legislator in which the High Court judge presiding ove has scheduled daily sittings, a decision, the NDC has appealed.
The NDC highlighted the resounding victory of Gyakye Quayson in the Assin North election as a message from the constituents that they want him as their representative.
The party also called on the Attorney General to heed the advice of the Dormaahene, as well as former Attorneys General Ayikoi Otoo and Marietta Brew, who have all spoken out against the prosecution.
The NDC warned that continuing with the trial would only result in further embarrassment for the Attorney General.
