Stonebwoy eyes global collaborations after winning TGMA Artist of the Year Award
Fresh off his victory as the Telecel Ghana Music Award (TGMA) Artist of the Year, reggae dancehall sensation Stonebwoy is setting his sights on even greater heights. In an exclusive interview with France 24 English TV channel, the acclaimed artist revealed his ambitious plans for future collaborations, aiming to expand his musical horizons beyond his already impressive repertoire.
“Oh yeah, most likely, like I’ve always shot for the skies,” Stonebwoy remarked enthusiastically. “I mean, appreciating the collaborations that I’ve already done anyway. You know, I’m looking towards doing something beautiful with Rihanna or Taylor Swift.”
Known for his versatile musical style that bridges reggae and dancehall, Stonebwoy emphasized his desire to explore new genres and work with diverse international artists. “Angélique Kidjo has been done from the French side, representing for Africa in the diaspora. As well, I’ve done something with Stormzy, Shaggy, Sean Paul, Buju Banton—you know, in my dancehall or reggae line. I think I’ve gotten an ‘appointment specialist’ or PhD in that line.”
Expanding on his plans, Stonebwoy hinted at upcoming projects that transcend traditional boundaries. “I want to take it away a little bit from that and then span it out because, you know, there’s Stonebwoy as a versatile artist anyway. So, there’s a possibility to make those smashing hits. You know, I’ve got something with Rick Ross also in the pipeline. Working towards the hip-hop side is also yeah.”
Stonebwoy’s innovative approach and eagerness to collaborate globally underscore his commitment to pushing musical boundaries and cementing his status as a leading figure in the international music scene.
