Speak And Promote The Ewe Language Everywhere-Torgbi Agbelorm Agbotokor II
The Group Chairman of Reinbee Group of Companies and the King of Salo-Sokutime in the Anlo District of the Volta Region,Torgbi Agbelorm Agbotokor II is calling on all Ewes everywhere to speak the Ewe language.
He has challenged all Ewe parents to speak the language to their children wherever they live in both Ghana and abroad.
The Chief observed that whiles some Ewe parents intentionally refused to speak the language to their children for the fear of exposing their identity as Ewes, some parents too exhibit those ill behaviours towards their own language ignorantly and with no reasons whatsover.
He lamented the decline in speaking the Ewe language among the Ewes in the cities and towns of Ghana in general.
Torgbi Agbelorm said the negligence by a parent that denied a child knowledge of his or her native language is the highest disservice a parent can offer his children which those children and nature will not be pleased with later in the life of those children.
Torgbi Agbelorm Agbotokor II said this at the commissioning ceremony of a 3-unit classroom facility constructed by Council for Ewe Associations in North America and Canada that,CEANA ,to the authorities of Peki-Dzake E.P.Junior High School in the South Danyi district of the Volta Region during the weekend. He tasked all natives of Ewenyigba to join CEANA to enable the council rack in more more to carry out social support projects back home.
Torgbi Agbelorm Agbotokor II is the Ewenyigba (Volta, Togo, Benin and Nigeria-Gbadagli) representative for CEANA. The traditional leader and a businessman encouraged the school children at the commissioning ceremony not to feel inferior in any form at all to no race or tribe anywhere not even in Ghana for whatsoever tribe anyone belongs is no make of himself.
Ewes of Ghana are lebelled illy and discriminated against on so many fronts that has made some natives hide their identity sometimes and others even changing their names to hide their tribal identity.
The president of CEANA, Dr. Tsatsu Nyamadi asked the school children to study hard for their own future and for humanity.” Education is one easiest tool to breaking grounds that can only be achieved with seriouness at regular studying of the necessary educational material and guidance”;he said. Dr.Tsatsu Nyamadi plead the traditional leadership of Peki-Dzake led by Togbe Dzeha III,The SMC and PTA to maintain the facility to enable it last longer.
Other executive members of CEANA who were at the ceremony were the former and founding member of CEANA, Dr Peter Nat Abotsi, Mr.Korsi Nutekpor, projects coordinator of CEANA
The 3-unit classroom facility replaced the one built in 1940s that was ripped off by rainstorm over a decade ago. The project cost $30,000.
CEANA for the past decades have constructed health facilities, bridges, school blocks among other social intervention projects across Evenyigba through annual contributions and donations by Ewe natives in 23 states of the United State of America and Canada.
