Rev William Addo Foundation Donates To Ghana Make A Difference
Rev. William Addo, the Rev. Minister in charge of the Gospel Light International Church, Ojobi Branch has donated items including second-hand-clothes, bags of rice and an undisclosed amount of cash to the Ghana Make A Difference at Dabanyin in the Central region of Ghana.
The Ghana Make A Difference is an orphanage/special home located at Dabanyin, a community along Kasoa-Winneba highway.
HISTORY
According to Mr. Kofi Amaoko, Director of the Home, the Home was founded by Mr and Mrs Stacy Hofman of the United States of America, some ten years ago, with the aim of making a difference in social care and support in Ghana.
The couple were motovated to show love and offer opportunities to those less privileged in society to realise their potential and the true meaning of their lives.
The Director of the Home stated, that they were running the home with the collaboration of the Ghana Social Welfare Department and other related organisations.
He urged the need for public education against stereotyping and stigmatisation of children in special homes.
He said stereotypical comments like “these are the orphans” and the like should not be used on children from special homes since such will rather dampen their spirit and make them feel less human.
Rather, there should be equity and equality when relating with children from special homes or orphanages.
According to Madam Bernice Mensah, a staff member of the orphanage, currently, the home has some 47 children with the capacity to take more.
REV. WILLIAM ADDO FOUNDATION
Rev. William Addo is a Minister of the Gospel Light International Church, in charge of the Ojobi Branch, and he is the founder of the William Addo Foundation, a nongovernmental organisation with the aim of improving lives of the vulnerable and the less privileged in society.
The Rev Mimister in an interview disclosed that he should have started a foundation earlier to support the vulnerable in society, but some perceived negative perceptions about some foundations and orphanages in the past kept him away from starting until now.
He stated that he was moved and touched by God to start one when the reality downed on him after visiting some orphanages.
According to him, before this time he had been making donations to orphanages and special homes like the Ghana Make A Difference and the Village of Hope, as well as vulnerable individuals.
He said, that in the coming months, he was looking forward to registering his foundstion as an international nonprofit organisation.
The foundation, though, is still at its embryonic stage, has a staff capacity of four, including Rev. William Addo, the Founder, Elder Francis Essuom, Presiding elder, Elder Appiah Adjei, Assistant Elder, and Miss Florence Tawiah, Secretary of the foundation.
