Parliament Returns From Recess Today
Ghana’s Parliament will resume sitting from recess today, Tuesday, June 11, for the second meeting of the Fourth Session.
The House was adjourned abruptly by the Speaker of Parliament, Alban Bagbin, on March 20, 2024, after an extensive response to a letter from the Presidency cautioning the House to cease transmitting the Human Sexual Rights and Family Values Bill, popularly known as the anti-gay bill, to the President for assenting.
The Majority Caucus on May 3, 2024, petitioned the Speaker for an urgent reconvening of the House to address key government business items.
This includes the adoption of the Thirty-Fourth Report of the Appointments Committee and a motion on additional financing.
