Otumfuo commends Bawumia’s humility, supports presidential bid with prayers
The Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, has welcomed Vice-President Bawumia’s bid to contest the upcoming elections and lead Ghana in 2025.
Giving audience to the presidential candidate of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), the Asante King commended Bawumia saying, “Political power has not changed you. You are still the humble Bawumia I have always known. My prayers are with you from now till December.”
The monarch also urged the NPP presidential candidate to candidly acknowledge and address his potential shortfalls as he begins his political engagements before the December polls.
“And so, share your vision with Ghanaians with respect, even to your opponents. Ghanaians are ready to respond positively if you and your government admit their shortfalls and present pragmatic solutions”, he said.
The visit to the Manhyia Palace on Wednesday (12 June), is part of Dr Bawumia’s three-day campaign tour in the Ashanti Region, a key stronghold for the governing party.
Expressing his gratitude, Dr Bawumia reiterated his commitment to serving the nation with the same dedication and humility that have characterised his political journey.
Earlier, Vice-President Bawumia also engaged with the business community and leadership of various traders’ associations in the region.
He also distributed tablets to over 4,000 students of the Opoku Ware Senior High school as part of the government’s plan to provide tablets to senior high school students across the country to aid in their education.
The campaign team also inspected some road network in Kwabre East. The constituency has been deprived of good roads despite its significant contribution to NPP’s vote in the Ashanti Region.
