NDC Leads NPP In Galamsay Water Pollution Competition: Annoh-Dompreh’s Verdict
The Majority Chief Whip in Ghana’s Parliament, Frank Annoh-Dompreh has given his verdict on which of the two leading political parties whiles in government, pollutes water bodies more through illegal mining (galamsay).
According to him, erstwhile National Democratic Congress (NDC) government polluted water bodies more than the current New Patriotic Party (NPP) government.
Mr Annoh-Dompreh who is Member of Parliament for Nsawam-Adoagyir gave the verdict on the floor of parliament on Tuesday September 3, 2024, the first day of a two-day emergency sitting of the House, where the lawmakers debate illegal mining activities which are damaging the country’s water bodies.
Mr Annoh-Dompreh who was responding to the minority’s concerns about the government’s failure to tackle the issue, asserted that an investigation would reveal that the NDC caused more water pollution during their tenure.
“I was very happy when the Minority Leader challenged us that we will debate this matter and the culprit will be mentioned. In fact, we are ready to debate now. If we are to look and investigate both sides of the house.”
“You have had the opportunity to rule this country before. I can tell you; you polluted the water more than us. You polluted the water more than us. So, let’s get matters straight,” he stated.
