Napo is ready to transform Ghana with his ‘arrogance’ – Majority Leader
The Majority Leader in Parliament, Alexander Afenyo-Markin, has defended Dr Matthew Opoku Prempeh, the running mate to the New Patriotic Party (NPP) flagbearer, against efforts by the National Democratic Congress (NDC) to brand him as arrogant.
According to the Effutu MP, the NPP running mate is the right person to work alongside Dr Mahamudu Bawumia to drive the transformation of the country.
Speaking at the NPP’s manifesto launch on Sunday, August 18, 2024, Mr Afenyo-Markin drew a parallel with past attempts by the NDC to label President Akufo-Addo as arrogant during his candidacy, a strategy that ultimately failed to impede his leadership abilities.
“We know you tagged Akufo-Addo as arrogant, but it didn’t work. He is ready to transform Ghana with that same ‘arrogance,’” he stated.
Mr Afenyo-Markin also urged NPP parliamentary candidates and members of the party to actively campaign and secure victories in both the presidential and parliamentary elections.
“Don’t give up, let us work together… To our parliamentarians, I say Kudos to all of you. I thank you for your support through your steadfastness and resilience although we have a very tight parliament.”
“We have a majority of one…But we have a few months ahead of us. I want to encourage you to please make yourself available to support the course of government. Let’s finish hard. There is a price awaiting us.”
“To all parliamentary candidates let me plead with you enough of the reconciliation. Move on, fight hard, campaign day and night, and go to every household. We don’t have time to settle disputes.
“Fight for this party the way you fight to save a sister, fight for this party the way you save a mother, fight for this party we need our numbers in parliament,” he stated.
