Movement 4 Change’s Hopeson Adorye Caged Over Bombing Claims
The Ghana Police Service has arrested a leading member of the Movement for Change, Hopeson Adorye over his claim that he detonated dynamites in the Volta Region during the 2016 General Elections.
The arrest follows an interview he granted on Accra FM on May 10, where he claimed to have been part of an orchestration to detonate dynamites to scare voters in the stronghold of the National Democratic Congress to pave the way for a New Patriotic Party (NPP) win.
In the interview, Mr Adorye, who was an NPP member but now serves as the director of special duties for Alan Kyerematen’s Movement for Change, explained that the dynamite explosions were intended to intimidate voters in the opposition stronghold of the Volta Region.
Mr Adorye’s confession has since gone viral.
According to sources, Mr Adorye was invited to the police headquarters on Wednesday May 22, 2-24 for a conversation on the claim but was later moved to the ministries police station where he was detained.
He is expected to be arraigned before the court today Thursday May 23, 2024.
