England Coach Courts British Born Ghanaian Youngster, Kobbie Mainoo
Manchester United and England Under- 21 prodigy , Kobbie Mainoo is being courted by the Coach of England’s senior men’s football team, the Three Lions , Gareth Southgate to pledge his international future to the country.
The latest development comes on the back of brilliant displays in the past months by the hugely talented 18 year old Manchester United academy graduate for club and country over the past year and half which has drawn widespread support for his burgeoning career.
The teenage prodigy has been heavily involved in the academy and under 23 sides ahead of his age group due to his excellent ball retention and playmaking skills in his midfield role for club and country whilst being tipped as the next biggest star to emerge from the world class production line at arguably one of the biggest clubs in the world.
As part of such stellar displays, he was selected by first team coach , Eric ten Hag to do preseason training for the 2023/2024 football season where he played a huge role in before suffering an unfortunate leg break in a friendly against Real Madrid in August ,2023 which put his ambitions for the season out of gear.
The injury ruled him out of his club side’s plans for the new season which began in the middle of August ,2023 till his latest appearance in the recent 3-0 win against English Premier League opponents , Everton where he made his first start for the club with an excellent showing for 72 minutes before being taken off by the coach.
Since his return from injury, Kobbie Mainoo has played in a number games for his club ( behind closed doors) and for the England U-19s where he has been made captain in a few international matches to build up his fitness gradually.
Information available to official sources , indicate that the Ghana Football Association are taking steps behind the scenes to secure the player’s allegiance to the Black Stars since he is of Ghanaian origin.
Kobbie Mainoo was born to Ghanaian parents in 2005 in the United Kingdom and has been playing for both Manchester United academy and English under age sides ,where he has excelled drawing the clamour from both officials of the Ghana Football Association and English FA to secure his allegiance.
Further developments indicate that plans are far advanced by the English FA and technical team to fast track his progress into the national team(the Three Lions) to avoid the player from falling into the clutches of his country of origin ( Ghana).
