Competence and Merit guides my Appointments – Mahama
The President, John Dramani Mahama has given the assurance that he will take the contributions and talents of indigenes from the Volta Region in his government’s appointments, emphasizing that the process will be guided by regional balance, competence and merit. He gave this assurance in the wake of the vandalism of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) office in Ho, by some disgruntled individuals dissatisfaction over the exclusion of a Ho Central indigene from the President’s recent ministerial appointments.
The President made these remarks during his during his “Thank You” tour of the Volta Regional capital, Ho. He acknowledged the expectations for appointments from the Volta Region and reassured residents of their inclusion. “I also recognize the anticipation of appointments from this region, and as has been said, so far so good. Let me assure you that your contributions and talents have not been overlooked,” he said.
He underscored that appointments would be based on key principles, saying, “Appointments will be guided by principles of merit, competence, regional balance, gender equity, and availability to serve.”
Residents will be holding their breath to see what comes out of the President’s remarks, hoping for a renewed focus on addressing the region’s developmental needs.
