Bawumia, Mahama File Nomination Forms Today For Election 2024
The flagbearers of the two leading political parties in Ghana, the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) and the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC), Dr Mahamadu Bawumia and John Dramani Mahama will file their nomination papers for the upcoming presidential elections to day Monday, September 9, 2024 respectively.
The running mate Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh, the Party’s National Chairman and General Secretary, the Majority Leader in Parliament, and other Party Leaders are expected to accompany the NPP presidential candidate for the filling in the morning.
NPP General Secretsry, Justin Kodua Frimpong in a statement on Sunday noted that Dr Bawumia will address party sympathisers and the public after filing his nomination at the party’s headquarters in the morning.
“Members of the Party and the general public are invited to be part of this historic moment of POSSIBILITY in Ghana’s Next Chapter,” he added.
Dr Bawumia is currently touring the country with his Bold Solutions campaign message on the slogan; It Is Possible’.
In a related development, Former president and presidential candidate of the NDC, John Dramani Mahama is also expected to file his nomination forms later in the afternoon of Monday.
Spokesperson for Mr Mahama’s campaign, Joyce Bawah Mogtari confirmed the filing details, emphasising the event’s significance and the campaign’s focus on inclusivity and economic recovery.
“This is a momentous occasion for the NDC as we gear up to build the Ghana we want together. Our campaign focuses on Jobs, Accountability, Development, and a better future for all Ghanaians,” Mogtari stated.
Meanwhile, the former president has begun a four-day tour of the Bono Region from Sunday.
The #Mahama4Change2024 tour will visit all 12 constituencies with a courtesy call on some traditional councils, community engagements, meeting with religious leaders and interacting with the Bono Regional House of Chiefs.
Mr Mahama will also host a youth forum at the Sunyani Technical University during his tour.
He promises to revitalise the economy and create job opportunities through innovative policies and initiatives to spur growth.
