Asamoah Gyan: I’m serving on NPP’s manifesto committee in Ghana’s interest
Former captain of the Black Stars, Asamoah Gyan has described his appointment to the New Patriotic Party (NPP) Manifesto committee as an honour adding that it will help bring his expertise to bear on sports development in Ghana.
Gyan was in February this year appointed to chair the youth and sports sub-committee of the ruling party’s 2024 manifesto committee.
Gyan’s appointment to the role not only reflects his ambition to advance the sports industry but also presents him with a unique opportunity to steer the nation’s sporting trajectory.
In an interview on the Asaase Breakfast Show on Tuesday (25 June), Gyan said serving on the NPP manifesto committee is in the country’s interest.
“I thought this was a great honour. I am not a politician, if the National Democratic Congress (NDC) came, I would have done the same thing, but they didn’t see it from that angle and NPP saw it and contacted me.”
“It’s a great honour for me and I was happy and poised to do it wholeheartedly, it’s for Ghana, but in Ghana, everything is related to politics,” he said.
