Annoh-Dompreh Teases Alan Cash, ‘Abandon Your Dream’- Bawumia Would Lead NPP
No matter what the circumstances, Vice President, Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, would lead the New Patriotic Party (NPP) as flagbearer into the 2024 general elections, Majority Chief Whip, Frank Annoh-Dompreh, has told long time contender, Alan Kwadwo Kyeremanten.
Mr Annoh-Dompreh who is akso the Member of Parliament (MP) for Nsawam-Adoagyiri in the Eastern region has according urged the former Trade and Industry Minister, Mr Kyeremanten to abandon his quest of becoming the party’s flagbearer because he would not get the needed support from NPP fraternity to realise his vision.
Mr. Annoh-Dompreh stated these when he addressed the Nsawam-Adoagyiri women’s wing of the NPP about the “Eduru Woso” mantra being perpetrated by the Alan campaign team over the weekend.
“Now, we would tell him plainly that whether it’s his turn or not, we would let Bawumia lead us, it’s Bawumia that we are going with,” he said to the cheering delegates.
He emphasized how well the NPP has been served by Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, particularly when he represented the party at the Supreme Court during the 2012 election petition.
According to him, even prominent lawyers in the the NPP were unable to defend the party in the 2012 election petition, claiming only Dr. Bawumia was able to do that, this he said is the reason he does not support the “Eduru meso” motto.
“NPP is the only party with the greatest lawyers yet Dr. Bawumia took it upon himself that he was going to save the party, while someone claimed it wasn’t yet his turn, so now let him be told that whether it’s his turn or not, Bawumia will go” He emphasized.
The Nsawam-Adoagyiri lawmaker has therefore urged delegates of the party to support Dr. Bawumia in the upcoming flagbearer election because the latter has the potential to boost the NPP’s votes in 2024.
