July 6, 2023

The Minority National Democratic Congress (NDC) in parliament has disclosed that, cooperation with the Majority in the discharge of parliamentary business will suffer as it begun boycott of sitting on Thursday in solidarity with three of its members facing what it described as ”persecution by the government and the NPP”.

Minority Chief Whip, MP for Adaklu, Kwame Governs Agbodza in a press release on Thursday July 6, 2023 morning, the minority indicated it united in support of its colleagues and “has boycotted today’s sitting to enable Members accompany and solidarize with two members of our Caucus, namely the Minority Leader, Hon. Dr. Cassiel Ato Forson, and MP for Assin North, Hon. James Gyakye Quayson”.

”The Minority stands united with our colleagues, and as such will not be able to honour the business of the house today.

This is the beginning of a series of actions that the Caucus will be embarking on to end the ongoing persecution of the Minority Leader himself, the Hon. James Gyakye Quayson and the Hon. Collins Dauda.

We wish to reiterate the point that amidst persecution, cooperation will suffer” the statement ended.
