Alhaji Sinare commends President Mahama for reducing Hajj fares

February 6, 2025

In a press statement released today, H.E. Alhaji Said Sinare, the National Chairman of the Zongo Caucus Working Committee of the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC), has commended President John Dramani Mahama for the significant reduction in Hajj fares.
This decision, celebrated by many across the nation, is seen as a response to the financial burdens faced by countless families aspiring to undertake the sacred pilgrimage to Mecca.

Alhaji Sinare emphasized that the reduction in fares is not just a policy change; it symbolizes the government’s commitment to the welfare of the Muslim community in Ghana. He noted that this initiative aligns with one of the NDC’s key promises made during the 2024 campaign tour, during which he visited over 4,000 Zongo communities to understand their concerns and aspirations.
“The rising costs associated with Hajj have posed significant challenges for many individuals wishing to fulfill this holy obligation,” Sinare remarked. “President Mahama’s proactive action in addressing this issue reflects his deep understanding of the socio-economic challenges faced by our communities.”

In his statement, Sinare highlighted that this move also underscores the government’s pledge to inclusivity and support for all Ghanaian citizens, particularly those residing in Zongo communities. The reduced fares will enable more devotees to embark on their pilgrimage, fostering unity and devotion among community members.
He urged all stakeholders to work together to ensure a smooth implementation of the initiative, aiming for a memorable and seamless experience for all participants. Sinare also encouraged his fellow Muslims to embrace this opportunity with gratitude and a spirit of peace.

Concluding his message, H.E. Alhaji Said Sinare reaffirmed his dedication to advocating for the interests of the Zongo communities and praised President Mahama for this significant achievement that will undoubtedly have a lasting positive impact.
As the Muslim community prepares for the upcoming pilgrimage, the commendation from Alhaji Sinare serves as a reminder of the government’s continuous efforts to serve its citizens, particularly the underprivileged.
