Tyrone Marhguy Eyes Harvard, Columbia, Ashesi For His Vasity Education

December 21, 2023

Now trending, Tyrone Iras Marhguy, the Rastafarian student who in 2021 was confronted with admission denial by Achimota School to pursue senior high education due his dreadlocks is caught in the web of contemplation as he decides his future academic path.

Master Marhguy scored eight As in the 2023 West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) results released recently.

According to provisional results released by the West Africa Examiniation Council (WAEC), master Marguy scored eight A1s in Scoal Studies, English language, Mathematics (core), Integrated Science, Mathematics (elective), Chemistry, Physics and Information and Communication Technology with excellence.

Following the admission denial, Marhguy sued the school and the Human Rights Court 1 Division of the High Court in Accra ordered Achimota School to admit the dreadlocked student.
Speaking to Accra based Citi TV, in an interview, Marhguy hinted of his interest to pursue either Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or Electrical Engineering at either Ashesi University or Academic City in Ghana and other notable international universities.
“…In Ghana, then it’s Ashesi, Academic City, and in terms of courses, it will be Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or Electrical Engineering. I am also looking at prestigious international institutions such as Columbia, Harvard, MIT, and Cornell.” he disclosed.
Tyrone Iras Marhguy revealed that the unfortunate ordeal that surrounded his admission has rather converted him from an extrovert into an introvert since he could not mingle with students at the initial stages after his admission.

He however gradually gained acceptance into the Achimota community for who he is.
“Within the school, one thing I couldn’t do was go to the dining hall. I grew into the Achimota community because we see you and yes, we acknowledge, unlike initially when I was labeled as ‘the Rasta guy.’ I am not an introvert,” he said.
