Songor Alive Again: Electrochem Ghana Salt Mine To The Rescue
The Chiefs and people of Ada are full of praise and gratitude to the Chairman of the McDan Grofup of Companies, Dr Daniel McCorley (McDan) for ‘breathing and a new breathe’ into their lives through the revived Ada Songor Salt Development Project.

According to them, the Electrochem Ghana Limited Salt Mine and Processing project has come in handy to invigorate the area which has been abandoned for well over five decades to now to what they term SONGOR IS ALIVE AGAIN.

Indeed, Songor Is Alive Again by the massive investment of almost $ 90 million by Electrochem Ghana ltd, a subsidiary of the McDan Group owned by Dr McCorley.
Expressing their joy and appreciation during the grand commissioning of the revived Salt Mine and Processing Plant by President Akufo-Addo on Wednesday August 30, 2023, the youth of the Ada traditional area wielded placards with various inscriptions thanked McDan for his intervention.

Some of the inscriptions read: No More Illegal Mining In Ada, Thank You McDan for the AstroTurf, McDan is a Blessing to Ada, No Turning Back Electrochem, Mr McDan thank You for the Interest free Loans, Thank you for the Numerous Employment- Electrochem, McDan the People of Ada Will Never Forget Your Good Works among others.

Prior to the commissioning of the project, Electrochem Ghana limited embarked on several Corporate Social Responsibility initiatives in the Ada traditional area to make life better for the people.
Some of these initiatives are Women Support Scheme where interst free loans have been given to women to enhance their businesses, Community Water Supply system, the provision of scholarships to needy students from the area, the provision of a twenty seater water closet toilet to the Lolonya Community and the construction of the inner road network in the mining enclave.

An astroturf project is currently ongoing in the community to help enhance sports development in the Ada area.
The Electrochem Ghana project which currently employs 3000 youth is expected to employ 7000 people by 2027.
