Samira Bawumia Leads The Charge On Clean Energy In Ghana
The Second Lady of Ghana, H.E Samira Bawumia under the organization she founded, African Women and Children Conference (AFRIWOCC) is leading the charge for the adoption of clean energy to promote a Green economy in Ghana.
As a demonstration of her commitment towards this goal, Mrs Bawumia led a team of environmentalists from the US to the James Town community in Accra to interact with and educate fishmongers on the dangers of using woodlogs for their trade whiles promoting clean cooking methods.
The team educated the fishmongers who are mostly women why smoke inhalation is dangerous to their health and its impact on the environment.
“I spent time with some of our hardworking women in Jamestown, together with Adm. Michael Regan @epamichaelregan and his team who are in Ghana to learn about our local cooking methods and the challenges our women face daily using unclean cooking fuels.
We also toured the Blue Ocean LPG facility in Kpone to learn about Ghana’s Cylinder Recirculation Model put in place to increase the adoption of LPG.
Adm. Regan is the Administrator of the Environmental Protection Agency of the United States and like the @phscleancooking , supports efforts towards the transition to cleaner, affordable, and sustainable cooking solutions”, Mrs Bawumia said.
The Second Lady who is the CEO of AFRIWOCC recently led 100 Ghanaians young people to COP 28 to learn, showcase their innovations and to help fight for a greener economy.
