Residents Of Toflokpo Clash With Police

Irate residents, mainly made of the youth of Toflokpo, one of the salt winning communities along the Songor concession in Ada have clashed with personnel of the Ghana Police Service.
The incident happened about mid-morning of Monday November 7, 2023 at Alongokpor, a community adjoining Toflokpo.
Sources say the situation erupted when workers of Electrochem Ghana Limited went to the Toflokpo community to embark on their routine works.

Calm was restored after the initial volatile clash with personnel of the Ghana Police Service which left both staff and residents of the community injured.
The residents who were wielding weapons also pelted the workers, forcing the Electrochem Ghana staff to retreat. The Police had to intervene to restore order.
Assistant Head of Security at Electrochem Ghana Limited, Mr. Isaac Wahidjah who narrated the incident to Eagle Ghana said the incident happened around 11:00.
He said the angry resident who launched the attack on the Electrochem Ghana staff were about two hundred.
The situation has however normalized according to information reaching us from a source in the community.
