North Dayi MP Is The Best Female Lawmaker In 2023
The Member of Parliament (MP) for the good people of North Dayi in the Volta region, Joycelyn Tetteh has been pronounced as the Overall Best performed lawmaker for the year 2023 according to a survey report.
FAKS Investigative Services, a research-focused organisation in the 12th edition of its annual survey into activities of public office duty bearers including ministers of state, regional ministers, deputy ministers, MPs, and Chief Executive Officers of public institutions adjudged the young MP for North Dayi as the best performed among 40 female parlimentarians in Ghana’s legislature due to her invaliable service to her constituents and humanity as a whole.
She won the overal Best Female MP jointly with MP for Nsuta Kwaman Beposo in the Ashanti region, Adelaide Ntim.
Other MPs recognised include Effutu MP, Alexander Afenyo-Markin and North Tongu MP. Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa who were voted as joint overall best MPs in the year under consideration.
The survey comprises a field visit by officals of the organisations to to the various constituencies where they engage residents on the performance of their representative, engagement with journalists and the public on the performance of ministers, MPs and CEOs.
A statement issued by FAKS Investigative Services to announce the winners on January 9. 2024 titled : PERFORMANCE OF MINISTERS, 2023 said among others that the assesement involved projects executued by the various ministires, agencies and development intiatives by MPs in their constituencies and work in parliament.
“The exercise also considers the assessment of Members of Parliament (MPs) and the Chief
Executive Officers (CEOs) of the State Owned Enterprises (SOEs) in the country. The assessment involved projects executed by the various ministries, agencies and the Regional Coordinating Councils (RCCs).
Achievements of Joycelyn Tetteh
The young second term North Dayi MP has initiated several projects to help improve the living standard of her constituents.
These intitiatives cuts across education, health and sanitation, agriculture, youth and women empowerment among others.
Apprenticeship Training
The MP sponsored hundred of young girls and boys in into apprenticeship to learn trades such as hair-dressing, seamstressing, bakery, mehanics, carpentary in order to empower them with employable skills to support themselves and their families.

She also supported them with start-up tools to enable them set-up their own businesses after graduation with certificates.
In the area of education, the MP has instituted Going To School With Joy initiative where studnets from the area going to SHS and other institutions every year are supported with logistics and education material inclding chopboxes, matresses, exercise books, provisions, sanitary pads to the girl-child and an undisclosed sums of money.

The MP also suports with the infrastructure needs of schools within her jurusdiction.

Hon Joycelyn Tetteh has also demonstrated her motherly care to help improving water delivery in the area through the provision of mechanized borehole to communities including the Awate Tornu community recently.

The North Dayi lawmaker through her ingenuity collaborated with the UNFPA Country Director at the 2023 celebration of Adolescent Learning Forum (ADOLEF) in an effort to provide mentorship and guidance to adolescent girls aimed at ending the practice of child marriage in her area.

The MP was also recently honoured with the Women’s Choice Africa Award for her exceptional leadership and unwavering dedication to the welfare of her constituents.
The Women’s Choice Africa Awards, known for recognizing outstanding individuals who have made significant contributions to their communities, selected the MP for her notable achievements as a hardworking, development-oriented, and people-centered parliamentarian.

The North Dayi representative extended her philanthropy beyond her constituency and reached out to victims of the twin dam spillage that affects hundreds of people in the Volta region and beyond with relief items.

Parliamentary Duties
The North Dayi MP has also represented her people well on the floor of parliament where she summoned ministers of state through parliamentary questions to respond to the challenges facing her people.
Minister for Communication and Digitalisation appeared and responded to steps taken to improve mobile telephony in the Botoku, Tsoxor and Awatey communities in the North Dayi District.
Hon Joycelyn Tetteh who has been MP sine 2017 is a member of the Constitutional, Legal and Parliamentary Affairs and the Business Committee of Parliament.
The Survey
The survey took place between the months of October and December, 2023 and it was the
12th Edition of FAKS’s Performance of Ministers project.
During the period under review, the 16 regions were divided into four (4) zones. Zone A
comprises Greater Accra, Oti, Eastern and Volta regions.
The zone B regions were Ashanti, Western North, Ahafo and Northern region. Upper East, Upper West, North East region and Savanna region were grouped under zone C, while the zone D regions were Central, Western, Bono and Bono East region.
In total, about 5,063 responses were received across the country.
Some of the groups the team talked to were commercial drivers, students, business owners, traders, journalists, civil society organizations (CSOs) and among others.
Mainly, 68% of the respondents were between the ages of 18 and 55 while the remaining
32% were between the ages of 55 and 78.
