New Medeama Stadium Won’t Host First Round CAF Champions League Matches- Administrator
The Administrator of Medeama Sporting Club, Patrick Akoto, says the club’s home game in the first round of the 2023-2023 CAF Champions League campaign will be held at the Cape Coast Stadium.
According to him. the the 10,000 seater Tarkwa TNA edifice is in the final phase of construction and would not be ready to host the CAF Champions League contest which the club qualified for as a result of winning the domestic league.
Speaking in an interview with Citi Sports, as the Tarkwa based club prepares to compete in Africa’s premier club competition for the first time in its history, Mr Akoto said the facility will be ready to host subsequent games in the competition should club progress in the competition.

The 2023 Betpawa Ghana Premier League Champions, Medeama competed in the CAF Confederation Cup but missed out on progressing to the quarterfinal stage.
“We are happy to bring Champions League football to Tarkwa. It’s just unfortunate that we won’t be able to play the first match in Tarkwa due to the fact that the timeline for the completion of the facility doesn’t tally with the start of the competition.
Hopefully, if we are able to negotiate our way through the first match, hopefully we will be able to return home and play the subsequent games” Mr Akoto stated.
