McDan Invites A Call To Action Support For Dam Spillage Victims
Just a few weeks ago, the Akosombo Dam spillage became the most trending topical issue in Ghana because of the level of destruction that the spillage brought to the people in the people in the area.
It took the generosity of the visionary Ghanaian philanthropist, Dr Daniel McKorley to lead the charge in donating goods and relief items worth more than Ghc1.2 million. Hon. Ablakwa, MP for Ketu South said that ” McDan’s donation was Scientific, research-oriented and Time-bound. For example, the poly tanks and the water tanker be has brought would deliver fresh water to the people on a daily basics “.

As a call to action, Dr. Daniel McKorley inspired many people in commerce and industry like Ibrahim Mahama, Fela, and Mr Bediako, among others to follow suit in donating items to alleviate the plight of our fellow Ghanaians who faced difficulty daily.

He said on his Facebook wall today 13/11/23, that “It is unfortunate that, while most of us go about our daily activities, over 31,000 people in several parts of our country are suffering from the loss and pain of destruction caused by the spillage of excess water from the Akosombo Dam.”
” Many people have lost their homes, crops, and properties, and important infrastructures like schools, bridges, and roads have been destroyed. The floods have also swept away agricultural land and community centres, leaving the tourism industry in the Lower Volta area struggling.

This is a call to action for everyone —whether governments, businesses, communities, or individuals — to double our efforts by offering assistance and humanitarian support to our people within our means and capabilities. More aid, including food, water, medicine, and other essential items, must be delivered to these displaced places safely, swiftly, and on a large scale. The aid must reach those in need, particularly women and children, wherever they are.”

In conclusion, he hoped that the ongoing reconstruction and relief efforts can be expedited so that those adversely affected can move on and resume their daily lives as soon as possible”.
