Ghana Needs Proven Leadership, Not A ‘try me’ Candidate- Mahama

The flagbearer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), John Dramani Mahama has made a strong case for his re-election as President in the December 7 polls.

The former President argued that Ghana needs an experienced person to address her economic challenges, not an experimental leader.

In his address at a community engagement in Juapong in the North Tongu constituemcy of the Volta Region, John Mahama highlighted the next NDC administration’s commitment to prioritise youth development.

He urged the youth to take money when offered by politicians but must, however, make the right choice by voting the New Patriotic Party (NPP) out of power.

“Before the election, they will come with plenty of money, when they come, I beg you, take your thing back. But on the day when you go to the ballot box, remember the eight years of suffering, remember the eight years of hunger, remember the eight years of poverty and vote for the government and the president that will come and turn this nation around.

“In 2016, they said, oh try me and if in four years I don’t do well, you can vote me out. The same thing Jack Toronto’s younger brother is saying. He too says, try me, and after four years, if I don’t do well, you can vote me out but the youth of this country do not have the time to try anybody again.

“What we need is an experienced hand who has handled this country before and whose work we have seen. And so we are not going to try anybody. We are going back to experience, we are going back to expertise to turn our country around so that our youth can have a brighter future.”

As part of his first-day activities in the Volta rwgion, Mr Mahama and his campaign team visited Dededo in the Ho West Constituency, called on the Asogli Traditional Council, held community durbar at Kpetoe in the Agotime Kpetoe Constituency, and also attended a youth town hall meeting at the Ho Technical University.
