GFA Appeals Committee Upholds Decision To Disqualify George Afriyie
Sources at the Ghana Football Association have confirmed that Appeals Committee of the of the FA has upheld the disqualification of Mr George Afriyie from contesting the 2023 Ghana Football Association (GFA) Elections as Presidential of the Association.
The GFA Elections Committee for this year’s elections disqualifying the former GFA Vice President from running for the Presidency on stated grounds.
Mr George Afriyie appealed against the decision ahead of the September 11, 2023 deadline.
The Appeals Committee ruling was based on two key reasons:
Failure to provide the required number of Ghana Football Association members to support your candidate.
Failure to meet the requirement to contest the election for the position of GFA President due to having the support of four GFA members after Jeffrey Asare’s endorsement via Victory Warriors FC was rendered invalid.
The Appeals committee in a six page letter signed by its Chairman, Agbesi K. Dzakpasu, listed its reason for upholding the decision.
