First Vice Chairperson Of NDC, Shirley Ayitey Is Dead
The death is announced of the First Vice National Chairperson of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) madam Hanny Sherry Ayittey in Accra.
A statement signed by Head of the family, Nii Kofi Ayittey of Akwetey Nantan, Osu Alata, confirmed the demise of the former minister for Fisheries and Aquaculture and Health in the release issued on Saturday, July 22, 2023 with deep sorrow.
According to the family, further details will be provide at a later time.
“The head of the family, Nii Kofi Ayittey of Akwetey Nantan, Osu Alata, announce with deep sorrow the death of their beloved daughter and sister, Hon. Hanny Sherry Ayittey, on July 22, 2023.”

Sherry Ayittey until her demise served as the First Vice Chairperson of the largest opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC).
The deceased was a a leading figure in the affairs of the 31st December Women’s Movement lead by former first lady, Nana Konadu Agyemang-Rawlings.
Sherry Ayittey, born in 1948 was a Ghanaian biochemist, politician and women’s activist served as Minister for Fisheries and Aquaculture Development and later as minister for Health from February 2013 to June 2014.
