Destooled Kade Chief Fomenting Trouble In Kwaebibriem

The destooled chief of Kade, Kwame Apau, who ruled under the chieftaincy name and title Osaberima Agyare Tenadu II, is beating the drum for violence in the Kwaebibirem area of the Eastern region, ahead of a scheduled 40 Days Observance of the demise of the late queenmother of the town, Obaapanin Akua Fosua.

Kwame Apau, is reported to have suffered several disgracing defeats in almost all legal tussles against his removal as Kadehene.

He is threatening violence should his successor Chief of Kade, Osaberima Asare Twe I appear at the Kade township on Saturday, 16 September, 2023, as customary demands, to perform any traditional rites as part of the 40 Days Observance.

In a thinly-veiled threat which has put the over 40,000 predominantly farming community into a state of fear and panic, Kwame Apau threatened that “I say emphatically that I am the valid sitting legal chief of Kade and it is not proper nor lawful for Twum Debrah to come here on Saturday pretending that he is another Kadehene.” 

Like the Ostrich, which goes to muddy the water at one end and go to another end to what has happened, the man dishing the threat to Kade township and it chief is appealing to the government and all persons in positions of authority, that “I WANT THE LAW WORK. The IGP, the Chief Justice, Speaker of Parliament and all those who matter should make sure that the law works.”

At a press conference at Akyem Kade on Sunday 10th September 2023, Kwame Apau, earlier known as Agyare Tenadu admitted that he did not know anything about the organisation of the 40 Days Observance, which has the Okyenhene as the chief mourner until he gleaned from an invitation letter signed on behalf of the Oseawuohene of Wenchi.

“When I looked at the letter, I saw that his majesty the Okyehene is the principal mourner, he is my overload, I give him all the respect, Kade belongs to him” but cannot come to terms with why the same letter recognises Osaberima Asare Twe I as the chief of Kade.

This is not the first time Agyare Tenadu has caused trouble in Kade. In 2014, what was supposed to be a peaceful royal funeral turned into a bloody feud between Kwame Apau and his goons and the indigence of Kade. So bloody was the incident that Agyare Tenadu who allegedly commandeered his land guards to attack the police, according to bystanders, took to his heels, leaving behind his royal clothe and armrest.
Eyewitnesses say the beleaguered chief, who was gracing the funeral service of two of the royals of Kade allegedly went there with six machete-wielding, well-built men (macho-men) and reportedly commandeered them to teach anyone who dare stops him from sitting on the chief’s stool a bitter lesson, to which they obliged.
In the ensuing melee, innocent people, including an American-based Professor, were injured in the full glare of the about 60 police officers who were detailed to maintain peace at the funeral grounds.
