Dede Ayew To Make History At 2023 Total Energies AFCON
Captain of the Senior National Team of Ghana, the Black Stars, André Dede Ayew is on the verge of making history at the upcoming Total Energies CAF Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) 2023 tournament scheduled to take place at Côte d’Ivoire from January 13 to February 11, 2024.
If the Ghanaian skipper scores at the 34th edition of the CAF tournament in Côte D’Ivoire, he will set a new record as the only player in history to score in Seven different editions of the African Cup of Nations.
André Dede Ayew scored in 2010 AFCON hosted by Angola, 2012 AFCON tournament co-hosted by Gabon and Equitorial Guinea and the 2015 edition hosted by South Africa.

The Ghanaian skipper scored during the 2017 tournament hosted by Equitorial Guinea.
Equitorial Guinea was selected by the Conferadration of African Football (CAF) to host the tournament after origional host, Morroco pulled out at the lat minutes for fear of the spread of the Ebola virus outbreak.
Andre Ayew also scored during the 2019 AFCON tournament held in Egypt and in the 2021 edition hosted by Cameroun.
On record, only three other players, Asamoah Gyan of Ghana, Samuel Eto of Cameroun and Kalusha Bwala of Zambia have scored in six different editions of the AFCON.
Andre Ayew 34, is the most capped player for the Black Stars with 114 caps and scored 24 goals.
His first cap for Ghana was against Senegal on August 21,2007 and scored his first international goal for the country on January 19, 2010 against Burkina Faso.
He currently plies his professional career with French League 1 side, Le Havre.
