Build Your Own Stadia: NSA Boss Tells GFA
The Director General of the National Sports Authority (NSA), Professor Peter Twumasi has urged the Ghana Football Association (GFA) and Ghana Premier League clubs to build and manage their own stadia.
According to him, having their own stadium will help them reduce their reliance on state-owned facilities that serve a variety of sporting activities.
Prof Twumasu further proposed that Ghana’s funds from the 2022 FIFA World Cup be used to build a stadium that will only be used for football.
“I think it’s high time the GFA built their own stadium,” Prof Twumasi told Graphic Sports in an interview over the weekend.
“For example, the World Cup money that we get should be used for some of these things — building a stadium.
“We can use the World Cup money to design a stadium purposely for football matters and the federation (GFA) will handle that.”
His remarks follow the Confederation of African Football (CAF) ruling that the Cape Coast Stadium is unfit to host Medeama Sporting Club’s Champions League matches.
