Black Queens Qualified To 2024 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations

Ghana’s Black Queens have booked their place to the 2024 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations to be staged in Morocco despite recording a 0-1 loss to Namibia today, December 5, 2023, in the final lap of the qualifiers. 

The game, played at the Lucas Moripe Stadium in Pretoria, South Africa, saw the Queens finished the two-leg encounter 3-2 on aggregate having recorded a 3-1 victory in the first leg in Accra last Friday.

The Namibians took the lead in the 22nd forcing the Queens to labour throughout each half of the game in search of the equalizer but their efforts yielded no result as the match ended 1-0 in favour of the Namibians but 3-2 on aggregate for the Ghanaians.

A total of 12 teams will qualify for the group stages of the WAFCON and will join automatically-qualified hosts Morocco. 

So far, defending champions South Africa as well as Algeria have qualified for the 15th edition of the biennial African women’s football tournament organized by the Confederation of African Football (CAF).

It will be hosted by Morocco in consecutive editions, having hosted the previous edition in 2022.
