Basintanle Says New Housing Project Is Waste Of Public Funds
The Deputy Communications Officer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) Malik Basintale has criticized the newly launched national affordable housing project by President Akufo-Addo.
According to Mr Basintale, the initiative is a waste of public funds.
Speaking to TV3 on New Day morning show on August 2, 2023 he stated, “But to sit down and abandon the Saglemi housing project, you have left it, look at beautiful buildings, this was the plan the NDC under President Mahama had for the Ghanaian worker, very affordable at that time, when the dollar was changing for about GHS4.
“At that time, they were relatively affordable to whoever, today you have left those buildings, the roof has been destroyed, the roofing sheets are tattered. Infact, even the last time your media house went there even cable have been chopped off. some of them stolen by people. Infact some of the rooms there are been occupied by cattle, some by sheep and some by fowls and we are not questioning Akufo-Addo why we have caused such a huge financial loss.”
“Are you aware to go back to this project you will need a huge sum to fix all these things and you have abandoned it claiming you have started a new project in other words which project are we discussing. I will discuss a legal project as passed by parliament, as of today nothing has been passed,” Malik Basintale stated.
President Akufo-Add on Tuesday, August 1, 2023 launched an 8000-unit affordable National Affordable Housing Project at Pokuase.
