Ada Traditional Council Disburses Over Ghc 1 Million Ground Rent Paid By Electrochem Ghana Ltd
The Ada Traditional Council has confirmed receipt of a total amount of one million, twenty-nine thousand, one hundred and ninety-one cedis, twenty-seven pesewas (GHC 1,029, 191.27) ground rent which was released by the Office of the Administrator of Stool Lands (OASL) to the council in December 2023.
The funds, which was paid by Electrochem Ghana Limited (EGL) to the OASL was in respect of the 41,000-acre Songor salt concession which is being revamped by the company in the Ada East and West Districts of the Greater Accra region.
Registrar of the Ada Traditional Council, Mr. Ebenezer Mettle-Nunoo, who confirmed the release of the funds to the council said same has been disbursed to the four Okor clans including Adibiawe, Lomobiawe, Tekperbiawe and Dangmebiawe.
He said an amount has also been allocated to the Traditional Council.
Speaking on ‘The Furnace’ talk show on Eagle FM on Wednesday 17th January 2024, Nene Korle IV, Divisional Chief of the Tekperbiawe Clan confirmed receiving twenty eight percent (28%) allocation made for the clan and is disbursing same to the thirteen gates that constitute the clan.
Nene Lomo VI, Divisional Chief of the Lomobiawe Clan who also spoke on the show said his clan was allocated eighteen percent (18%) of the funds and confirmed receiving and disbursing same to various gates which constitute the clan.
Same confirmations were made by Asafoatsengua Okumko Oboampong IV of the Adibiawe clan and Nene Tetteh Lanuer Okumo IV, Divisional Chef of the Dangmebiawe clan when they took their turn on the same show.
They received twenty percent (20%) and eleven percent (11%) respectively on behalf of their clans.
Other institutions which were allocated parts of the fund by the by the OASL were the Ada East and West District Assemblies.
