Samira Bawumia Leads 100 Youth Climate Change Activists To COP 28
In her desire to help address the impact of climate change on the African continent, second Lady of the Republic of Ghana hosted the Youth Climate Dialogue and Innovative Exhibition in Accra.
The dialogue hosted by the African Women and Children Conference (AFRIWOCC) showcased various initiatives by young people towards addressing the impact of climate change.
Addressing participants at the event, the second lady said emphasised the need to change the narrative of addressing problems of climate change which affect women and children the most in Africa.

She challenged young people to lead the discourse for a a mores sustainable future.
“The youth being the architects of today’s transformation action must fight towards a sustainable and an all-inclusive future”.
H. E Samira Bawumia further stated that the youth in Africa have the solution to almost all the problems through their creativity, and hard work and must therefore avail themselves to solve societal problems.
Mrs Bawumia observed that Africa is suffering from the impact of climate change even though it releases less than 4% of global carbon emissions into the atmosphere.
“We are suffering the effects of climate change even thou we aren’t causing the main problem here in Africa” she noted.

AFRIWOCC, an initiative by the second lady is geared towards shifting move from mere rhetoric to innovative and practicable actions that aimed towards the green economy and saving the planet.
The UNDP has pledged to sponsor 100 Ghanaian Youth Climate Activists through AFRIWOCC to this year’s Conference Of Parties (COP 28) in Dubai to enable them contribute their innovations towards saving the planet.
