Drama As Family of Late Ga Mannye Cancels Funeral Amidst Strong Warnings To Ga state

October 24, 2023

The Family of the late Queen mother of the Ga State has issued strong warnings to all especially the Ga State as it cancels the planned funeral of the Oldest Queen mother of the Ga State, Her Royal Majesty Naa Dedei Omaeduro III.

Speaking at a press conference in Accra, the family/clan head, Nii Kotei Ga who doubles as the Ga-Asafoatse raised numerous concerns about the funeral of the late queen mother including the hijacking of the funeral and other financial actions by the Ga Traditional Council as basis for the cancellation of the funeral by the family.

According to him, all the problems they are facing were as a result of the Ga state and that, they as a family have washed their hands off the funeral and would not involve themselves further in the funeral.

The late Queen mother’s last daughter Afripon Danso described as sad if the funeral proceeds without the involvement of the 10 children of the late queen and the Immediate family.

In a related development, the Ga state through the late Queen mother’s funeral committee chairperson Nii Adote Otintor II, Sempe Mantse at a press conference on the same day, announced that the funeral would proceed as planned beginning October 23, 2023.

Nii Adote also made a counter allegation against the immediate family of the deceased saying it has hijacked the body of the late queen mother and sabotaged the funeral preparation.

He indicated that all attempts by his outfit to resolve the impasse has proven futile.

The Sempe Mantse called for unity within the Ga state in this time of mourning and prayed for the family of the late queen mother to join in the traditions as prescribed by the Ga state in holding the staff of love, unity, transparency, accountability and giving the late queen mother a befitting burial.

The late queen’s mother ruled from 24th January 1963 Gazetted in 1968 and has served for 59 years.
