Concentration And Focus Are Key To Success- McDan Tells Young People
The Chairman of the McDan Group of Companies, Dr Daniel McCorley has charged young people of Africa to take charge of their future by concentrating and remaining focus on their chosen endeavours at all times.
He expressed worry about the phenomenon where young people get destructed by what others are doing and jump from one field to the other just because other people are pursuing those dreams and ends up not achieving anything for themselves.
Speaking to students of the University of Ghana at the 9th edition of the What I Wish I Knew (WIWIK) 23 series, the business mogul emphasized the need for young people to listen to wisdom in patience whiles remaining focus on their dreams with the right attitude to enable them u mrealize their life goals.

“That is why the youth of today need to listen to wisdom, they need to be patient, need to concentrate, they need to have focus, they need to have the right attitude, it is not difficult, if wanna make it, you will make it” he said.
According to Dr McCorley who rose from zero to a hero, there is always a way when there is a will to achieve success with the right attitude irrespective of the obstacles that one faces in life’s journey.
‘’There is always a way, when you have the will, it’s easy to make it, depending on the attitude you put up. I always tell students that, 70% of your making it or of your wealth is your attitude, 25% is always the skill you learn, 5% is the knowledge that you acquire. So as a student while in school, whatever you doing, 70% of it is your attitude. So that is what make me tick.
I was a street fighter, in my school days I don’t say no, I never say I cannot, I fought for myself, when you read my book, you will understand what it takes to grow up in a tough environment and still make it” he admonished.
The McDan Group Chairman who shared his personal experiences with his audience also cautioned young people to guard against ostentatious lifestyles, be discipline and aimed at creating a brand image that sells whiles striving to achieve their career and entrepreneurial objectives and building enterprises that transcends generations.
‘’I had one million dollar but I was using Fiat Ritmo, if you can google Fit Ritmo (a small car).
I had a lot of money but I was simple.
The problem we have now is show off. Like the McDan group for instance, I run the company for twenty years, nobody knew who the owner of McDan was. What is disturbing this country now is, we put ourselves before our companies”.
If you want to build a legacy, there is difference between ventures and enterprise, you build an enterprise, enterprise transcends to generations upon generations, upon generations, but if want to build a venture, you just fall off.
Many of us in Ghana we always put ourselves before our companies. I always say that is wrong.
Branding is very important. That is where I always talk about integrity. If you want to build your brand, build integrity, let your integrity speak for you” Dr Daniel McCorley asserted.
The What I Wish I Knew (WIWIK) 23 entrepreneurship summit was on the theme: “Thriving in Uncertainty- a Conversation on Intrapreneurship and Entrepreneurship”.
