Court Dismisses Gyakye Quayson’s Application Against Daily Trial
An Accra High Court has dismissed the application filed by Assin North Member of Parliament James Gyakye Quayson seeking to halt the daily trial of the case against him.
Lead Counsel for the MP, Mr Tsatsu Tsikata immediately after the court’s dismissal announced the intention of the lawmaker to file an application with the Court of Appeal, seeking a stay of proceedings.
The Lawyers have accordingly submitted a request for the court to halt proceedings, allowing the Court of Appeal to review the trial judge’s decision to conduct the case on a daily basis.
The legislator is facing charges of forgery and perjury brought against him the the Attorney General and Minister of Justice, Godfred Yeboah Dame.
Meanwhile, in a move to solidarise with their colleague, the Assin North Member, the Minority caucus in Parliament has for the second time in a series to come, abandoned Parliamentary proceedings and accompany their Mr Gyakye Quayson to court.
They will be doing same for their leader, Dr Casiel Ato Forson and Member for Asutifi South, Collins Dauda any day they are due for court.
