John Paintsil Runs To The Defence Of Ghana Football Association
Former Ghana international John Painstil who was noted for defending the ball from getting into the goal post of his team during his playing days has jumped to the defence of the Ghana Football Association following current poor performances at all levels of the country’s football.
The Ghana Football Association has come under strong criticism from sections of the Ghanaian football loving public and some former-players who played for the nation at different levels with many blaming them for the way they have handled the association.
It is evidently clear that the country’s football development has suffered retrogression in recent years and the GFA is said to be at the forefront of leading it to the ditch.
Players including Emmanuel Agyemang Badu and Derek Boateng blamed the current administration for the poor performances of the various national team since they were elected into office.
However, Paintsil who was speaking in an interview on an Accra based Asempa FM monitored by www.eaghana.com believes it is not just the duty of just the Ghana FA but a collective responsibility by all stakeholders to enhance performance of the national teams and Ghana football in general.
“The weight of the job (referring to football development) cannot be done by just one person or body.
“…It is collective efforts that require all of us to play a role to be able to attain success” he said.
The 42-year-old also called on the government to contribute their quota in diverse ways to ensure the country gets back to chalking success like other teams on the continent.
“Talking about football development at large, the Ghana Football Association can’t do it alone.
“Take a look at how the governments of Morocco and Senegal have supported and contributed to football development in the two countries. I believe the Ghana government is willing to offer support, too” Paintsil argued.
