O B Amoah Bows Out From Parliament After 4 Terms
The incumbent Member of Parliament for Akwapim South, Osei Bonsu Amoah will not be seeking re-election.
With just days to go to the ruling New Patriotic Party’s primaries on Saturday (27 January), OB Amoah as he is popularly known has issued a statement announcing that he has withdrawn from the New Patriotic Party (NPP) Parliamentary Primaries race to elect a candidate for the 2024 general elections.
Amoah, who was seeking a fourth term in Parliament on the NPP ticket, did not assign any reason for his decision.
In a letter addressed to the general secretary of the NPP, he said: “I write to inform you that I have withdrawn as a candidate for the election of a parliamentary candidate for the general elections in 2024 in Akuapem South constituency.
“I respectively request that in accordance with the Public Elections Regulations 2016 (CI 94), my name should be deleted on the ballot paper for the election,” he said.
With the withdrawal of O B Amoah, the race is now between Kwame Ofori-Gyau, Eric Samuel Annor-Mensah, and Frank Aidoo, the municipal chief executive for Akuapem South.
