19 Year Old Michael Tetteh Jailed For Life

A 19-year-old factory worker, Michael Tetteh has been given a Life sentence for the Murder of one Mr. Patrick Gyasi.

The Accra High Court presided over by Justice Lydia Osei Marfo on the 19th of October 2023 found the accused guilty as charged after the Jury presented the verdict to the court.
Background
Patrick Gyasi (Deceased/ Victim) was present at the Otumfour Nana drinking spot located at Oduman in the Amasaman district on the 16th of June 2017 around 8’oclock to relieve tension when the accused caught up with him in a fierce argument about His(Michale’s) friend, Saani who previously fought with him(Patrick) the deceased at Oduman.

Later, as was discussed, Michael Tetteh, who was Saani’s closest friend also inherited the fight and went to approach the deceased.

After the first confrontation which led to a fight and was separated by the inhabitants, Michael Tetteh around 11 pm on the same day, came to the spot with a glass bottle in his pocket with the intent to harm the deceased, had another opportunity to confront the deceased and struck him with the bottle which later ended in puncturing of his neck and arm.
Michael after committing this crime, bolted and left Patrick to his fate.

Patrick was later rushed to the Oduman Healthcare Center in Amasamn but upon further investigations by the personnel, he was referred to the Amasaman government hospital where they declared him dead on arrival (DOA).

Aftermath:
The Police were informed about the crime committed and proceeded with their investigations and a manhunt. Michael was later apprehended by the police on June 21st in the hideout of his girlfriend in the Eastern Region.

Court:
The Accra high court presided over by Justice Lydia Osei Marfo reechoed a judgement which was delivered by the jury of his peers, who unanimously found Michael Tetteh guilty of all charges. The Judge ruled that Michael Tetteh be sentenced to Life incarceration.
