12 Get Life Imprisonment Over Murder Of Major Mahama
The Accra High Court has sentenced 12 out of 14 persons to life imprisonment for the murder of late Major Maxwell Mahama.
They have been found guilty of conspiracy to commit murder and murder.
This was after a seven-member panel returned a unanimous verdict of guilty against the assemblyman for the area, William Baah, Bernard Asamoah, aka Daddy; Kofi Nyarko, aka Abortion; Akwasi Baah, Kwame Tuffour, Joseph Appiah Kubi and Michael Anim.
The rest are John Bosie, Akwasi Baah, Charles Kwaning, Emmanuel Badu and Kwadwo Anim.
The court aslso acquitted and discharged two others, Bismark Donkor and Bismarck Abanga after the jury returned a not guilty verdict in their favour.
They were standing trial on charges ranging from murder, abetment to murder and conspiracy to commit murder.
Maj. Mahama met his untimely death at the hands of an irate mob at Denkyira Obuase in the Central Region whilst on official duty as detachment commander, on Monday, May 29, 2017.
He was promoted posthumously to the rank of Major on June 5, 2017.
